Technique
Setup
Set an adjustable bench to about 30 degrees under a rack and lie back with your eyes under the bar and your feet planted. Grip slightly wider than shoulder-width, pull your shoulder blades down and back, and unrack.
Movement
Lower the bar to your upper chest, just below your collarbones, with your elbows about 45 degrees from your body. Press back up and slightly back until the bar is over your shoulders.
Form Tip
Keep the incline low and your shoulder blades pinned; a steep bench turns it into a shoulder press, and flared elbows strain the front of the shoulder.
Increase Difficulty
Add weight, or pause for 1 second on the chest.
Decrease Difficulty
Use a lighter bar, or switch to Incline Dumbbell Press.
