Technique
Setup
Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and your hands on your hips or clasped at your chest.
Movement
Step one foot back and lower until your back knee hovers just above the floor and your front thigh is about parallel. Drive through the front heel to bring the back foot forward and stand tall, then alternate legs.
Form Tip
Keep most of your weight on the front foot with that knee tracking over your toes; stepping back on a hip-width track, like on two rails, keeps you balanced.
Increase Difficulty
Pause for 2 seconds at the bottom, or progress to Jump Lunges or Dumbbell Reverse Lunges.
Decrease Difficulty
Shorten the range, or rest a hand on a wall or chair for balance.
