Technique
Setup
Unrack a barbell onto your upper back as for a back squat and step back to clear the rack. Stand tall with feet hip-width and your core braced.
Movement
Step one foot back, landing on the ball of the foot, and lower until your back knee hovers just above the floor. Drive through your front heel to stand, then finish the set on that leg or alternate legs each rep.
Form Tip
Keep your feet hip-width apart as if on train tracks, not a tightrope; stepping straight behind your front foot makes you wobble under the bar.
Increase Difficulty
Add weight, or stand on a low plate for a deficit.
Decrease Difficulty
Use a lighter bar, or switch to Dumbbell Reverse Lunges for easier balance.
